2024 Summer Extravaganza

This summer, we have concentrated on events for our younger members instead of live evening concerts. We have just completed two very successful summer camps – dance camp, and a cultural integration camp.

Summer Dance Camp

The dance camp run by Lucy Murphy School of Dance introduced the dancers to traditional step and céilí dances. The camp ended with a feis performance for the parents and each participant received a medal in recognition of their hard work.

Cultural Integration Camp

Despite the holiday period we were delighted to welcome over 18 Brú na Sí members, 8 Ukrainians, and 4 Spanish, all teenagers. It was a great week of cultural integration with lots of fun and games and table top quizzes delivered. Principal activities included music, dance and singing workshops. The activities began with a breakfast get to know you session each morning provided by our wonderful volunteers. The colourful and exciting week of activities ended with the our traditional water fight. The success of the Camp was echoed in the cry “When is the next one!“.

Many thanks to the amazing tutors for the event – Sinead Lawless, Aisling Pierce, Aoife Butler, Marie O’Sullivan and John Cunningham and Tara Coyle. Our teenagers had a great week of bonding and interaction with the international students through stories, tunes and songs. The cultural integration camp was made possible through Talova Tetiana of YMCA Integration Project.

A special word of thanks to Tommy Collins and the Youghal Community Bus who very kindly supported the week long project.

Adult Sessions

We are delighted to announce that the adult music group has now grown to 10 musicians. The session runs every Thursday evening 6.30 until 8pm and is open to all who wish to enjoy an impromptu set of tunes

The Adult group have agreed to host a session on Thursday night next 1st August and they will welcome the teenagers for a Seisiun Mór. Teenagers under 18 must be supervised by their parents.

As we expect a representative of our twin branch Amerigin the Gael we have decided to organise a Summer BBQ Session. The event is free but donations are welcome.
